Prostitute`s pasta off the menu?
Certain dishes can add a certain edge to one`s meal, especially if one feasts on "Prostitute`s spaghetti". You`ve got to be real quick though, as some restaurateurs have suggested removing "discriminatory dishes" from the menu.
ґThe Association of Austrian restaurateurs has expressed disapproval of culinary titles like "Gypsy Schnitzel" (Zigeunerschnitze), "Moor-in-a-shirt" (Mohr im Hemd) and "Negro bread" (Negerbrot).
Austrian foodies claim such titles don`t make mouths water but spoil the appetite and shouldn`t be featured in the menus of decent restaurants.
They suggest using neutral descriptions of the dishes, like "dark bread" instead of the offensive "Negro bread".
But no variants for replacing the classic Italian delicacy "Spaghetti alla puttanesca", known for its rich spicy flavor, have yet been presented.
